Many companies are looking for talented artists to collaborate with them to create collections of Art-merch objects that can influence the formation of a positive image of the Company.
In the history of art there are many examples of successful cooperation between famous Companies and artists -Alphonse Mucha and the Jewelry House of Georges Fouquet, Salvador Dali and Schiaparelli, Takashi Murakami and the FaZe Clan company, Dutch abstract artist Piet Mondrian and Hermès. Such artists as Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Kazimir Malevich, Wassily Kandinsky and many others collaborated with porcelain factories.
Today, collaboration between Authors (artists, designers, crafters, etc.) with companies and famous brands is commonplace. Many companies actively cooperate with artists, galleries, museums, theaters, and other cultural institutions. Among the successful projects in the field of Art merch is the collaboration between the artist Rinat Kuramshin and EAF CLUB (Great Britain). As part of this cooperation, EAF CLUB produced a collection of Art Merch objects with images of paintings by Rinat Kuramshin for the International Project VALOIS FEST.
Museums are increasingly cooperating with fashion brands: such collaborations are a trend.
An example of successful cooperation is the collaboration of the State Tretyakov Gallery and the Brand TVOE.
"TVOE" has created a special collection of clothes "Tretyakov Gallery". For prints on clothes, paintings from the collections of the GTG were used: Viktor Vasnetsov, Ivan Aivazovsky, Mikhail Vrubel, Arkhip Kuindzhi, Vasily Kandinsky, Aristarchus Lentulov, Kazimir Malevich and Valentin Serov. All the paintings are very recognizable, for example, "Three heroes" by Vasnetsov and "Demon" by Vrubel and oder.
IKEA experimented with products with Virgil Abloh. The DHL courier service showed a sample of its employee’s T-shirt, made by the fashion brand Vetements. T-shirts quickly sold out, and merch found a second life. It is worth mentioning that sometimes the main product simultaneously becomes merch, and vice versa, art merch products can become the main product of the Company. This often happens in collaborations between brands and artists, when the line between a joint product, a main product and a limited collection is almost erased.
Companies from various market sectors (Interior, Fashion, Textiles, Furniture, Lighting, Porcelain, Accessories, etc.) are interested in the production of Art merch products, where Art can influence an increase in profits.
In any case, cooperation in the production of Art merch objects brings benefits to both the Author (artist, designer, craft master, etc.), the Art Owner (Museum, Galleries, Art Fund, Corporate or Private collection), and the Company under whose brand Art merch products are produced.
